So, have you received your new mini catalog and the SAB (sale-a-bration) catalog? It's that wonderful Stampin Up time of year. We have the big catalog, the seasonal mini catalog AND the SAB catalog!!! So exciting. This month's projects are focused on using quite a few new stamp sets and designer paper from the catalogs… and light/happy spring time colors.
This month's projects are using products or techniques a few of you have been asking about last year. We will be using the swing card framelits and the technique on page 174 of the big catalog. Once you see all the samples of both designs, it will be obvious that I kinda had a FUN time coming up with the designs. I really, really like both projects. I can't wait to share them with you.
Here are pictures of the projects (keep in mind, photos are okay, in person the projects are much nicer!):
Embossing Folder Technique:
The above project is using the exact technique as shown in the catalog. You use your embossing folder as a stamp, emboss the image with versa and white powder and afterwards color using a chalk marker. My stamped image was not 100% stamped… but I like the random, lightly stamped background look. The other samples for this design are variations on this technique.
Is I was posting each sample, I was about to write that that was my fav… but I like them all!
Swing Card:
The next project was so much fun that I decided to make up a few extra for my February swap. Here is the swing card. If you've used this framelit before, you know how many extra fun bonus framelits are included in each set. It's a great value. Also, notice how these cards are full size, rather than 1/2 size… the framelit cuts your paper smaller than the pictures shown below. I'll show you how to make a full size card when we meet.
You will have your choice from two groups of colors (designer paper + matching card stock). These are samples using the designer paper from the mini catalog Painter Blooms*:
… the bling is there, just a bit camera shy…
.. may I squeal with delight about how cute these are???
These are using the Sale-a-Bration designer paper Best Year:
Cute Kid Story: When my kids were young, we would visit McDonalds every once an awhile. They were obsessed with the happy meal toys. One visit, my darling daughter took her and her brother's meal to the table while I was finishing up the transaction and dug thru the box looking for her toy. She came running back to me, holding her unwrapped toy up in the air and asked the following question "Mommy, what it dos?" … lol… a bit of a joke now when we have a gadget or devise and don't know how to make it work 'what it dos?'… This card is very easy and fun to see 'what it dos'… As a matter of fact, get one in your hand and you'll probably be making the greeting spin, flip back and forth a bit more than you should… it's fun!!
I look forward to seeing you this month.

*Designer Paper-Painter Blooms – Stampin Up has designers that create all these stamp sets and designer paper. I was lucky enough to be able to attend the 'catalog premier' late last year where SU unveiled their mini catalog and the SAB mini. They shared quite a few stamp sets and this designer paper. They actually had an artist paint the flowers and they turned her work into this package of designer paper. When you see the paper, you'll see the time and care that went into designing.
Happy Stampin,
