My Stampin Room… Progress!

June 10, 2012

Do you know how you feel when you get a new car?  Ummm…  nice…

How about a new refrig, or wash ma dryer?  …

How about the pride you feel after working on a project for 9 months (nothing tangible) and it finally happening (vs writing a check that would make anyone cry, or having boxes loaded into your already too small home cluttering up every inch of free space…).  Today was the beginning of the light at the end of the tunnel…  IT IS HAPPENING!

Here are a few more photos…  I'll post photos as progress is made:

Below, see those paint colors???  If I were forward thinking and proactive, the walls would be painted before the cabinets hung.  Oh well.  Here's my delima when it comes to painting…  these colors will be used for the entire house!  The boys say painting the rooms pink wouldn't work (darn).  I want to have plenty of neutral colors…  I will paint afterwards.  This photo doesn't show the colors well.

SO, a few points for everyone beginning creating their …  (what is a good name for my new room?) … stampin room.  Where do you want plugs/outlets?  Where don't you want them (such as not in the way of the cabinet frame) for logical use in my new room?  Do you want lights?  How do you want them turned on/off – individually, or linked together.  Where do you want that light switch?  Do you want them dimmable?  Do the lights you want come dimmable and linkable?  I wanted 'natural' light… not that yellow looking stuff (okay, warm light).  I wanted cool/blue natural light.  I didn't even think (still haven't) about in cabinet lights, or ceiling/can lights…  Anyhow, we found Joel.  Joel is Gail's son…  he is OUR electrician.

Hum…, another stumbling block…  we need to get the new hardwood floor (not carpet) down before cabinets.  Yeiks, another reason to postpone installing!  Okay, Jim and Tony put down hardwood floor pad and nailed the planks. See earlier post.  Guess what?  The floor creeked with each step.  It was that darn suggested hardwood pad. Guess what?  Yep, yank it up and re-lay it again.  I couldn't imagine living with the entire house creeking each step.  I feel a bit guilty about requesting it be ripped up.

Stay tuned, more photos coming your way.

Happy Stampin,

Nolansiggy
